Partial Differential Equations
Classification of PDEs, analytical methods (separation of variables, method of characteristics), finite difference methods.
Advanced Fluid Mechanics
Reynolds Transport Theorem, control volume approach, integral formulations of mass, momentum and energy, applications to incompressible and compressible flows.
Fluid Mechanics
Hydrostatics. Kinematics of fluid flow: streamlines, potential flows, stream function. Euler and Navier-Stokes equations. Perfect fluid assumption. Bernoulli's theorem and applications.
Thermodynamics
First and second laws of thermodynamics, state functions and exact differentials, entropy and irreversibilities. Phase changes and thermodynamic diagrams. Thermodynamic cycles (Carnot, Diesel, etc.)
Mathematics Tutoring
Small-group mathematics tutoring, as part of the ENS degree program.
